A Chartered Accountant is a professional who works in various sectors of the economy, managing the finances of an entity, providing financial advice, and helping out with money management. This can be for an individual, business, or government.
Chartered accountancy has been one of the most popular career choices in India. This profession is not easy to get into but if you manage to do so, it offers a great career path, salary, and respect among people. One of the reasons why people respect chartered accountants is not because of the designation or pay, it is mainly because it is not easy to become one.
Road to Become a Chartered Accountant:
Step 1: Enroll yourself in the CA Foundation Course after completing Class 12. A student must have a minimum 55% aggregate in the 12th class result.
Step 2: Complete a 4-month study period and appear in the CA Foundation Examination. The test involves quantitative aptitude, general economics, mercantile laws, and accounting.
Step 3: Enroll in CA Intermediate Course after clearing the CA Foundation Exam. Registration for CA Intermediate Examination must be done nine months prior to the first day of the month in which the exam will be held.
Step 4: Complete 8 months study course of CA Intermediate and appear for the exam. The course consists of 7 subjects, each having 100 marks.
In order to clear the course, candidates will have to score at least 40 marks in every subject with an aggregate of 50% or above.
There will be 2 groups of exams, you need to pass at least one before moving forward.
Step 5: Complete your Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) and Information Technology Training (ITT) for 15 days each before starting your Articleship training.
Step 6:Register as Articled Assistant and join 3-year Articleship training with Audit Firms or Account Firms after passing either group of CA Intermediate.
Step 7: Clear the remaining group of the CA Intermediate Exam (if there’s any left).
Step 8: Register for CA Final Exam
Step 9: Complete your Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology Article Training and Soft Skills (AICITSS) of 15 days in the last 2 years of your Articleship and General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) of 15 days in the last 12 months of Articled Training.
Step 10: Complete your Article Training
Step 11: Clear the Final Examination and enroll yourself as a member of the ICAI to be designated as a “Chartered Accountant”.
